Learning from the lives and deaths of people with a learning disability and autistic people (LeDeR)
The LeDeR programme of work started in 2017. Within this programme we work together to review the lives of people, the care and support they have received, and the circumstances leading up to their death. We do this to identify things that went well and areas where we can work together to improve. This quality improvement approach aims to influence the design and delivery of local services to support people with a learning disability and autistic people to experience better health and longer, happier and healthier lives.
We work closely with experts who have a learning disability or are autistic, carers, service providers, health and social care staff and fellow commissioners to help shape better experiences and outcomes for local people.
